Review highlights
Based on 423 reviewsAščinica Balkan II consistently receives praise for its authentic Bosnian cuisine, with reviewers highlighting a variety of traditional dishes such as mixed meat and vegetable plates that capture local flavors. The restaurant is noted for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, largely attributed to the kind and attentive senior staff who efficiently manage the establishment. Customers appreciate the reasonable pricing, especially considering its central location in Mostar’s old town. While some language barriers exist, the staff’s willingness to accommodate dietary preferences, including vegan options, enhances the dining experience. Practical aspects, like the need to ask for the restroom key, are consistently mentioned but do not detract from the overall positive impression. Overall, the restaurant is favored for its genuine culinary offerings, hospitable service, and value for money, making it a popular choice for those seeking an authentic taste of local Bosnian fare.
I was tired of seeing the same touristy menu and wanted local cuisine. I saw the positive reviews at this place and gave it a try. We ordered the small mixed plate that had stuffed peppers, grape leaf, onion, rices and this awesome potato dish called pire sa mesom (I wish I ordered a whole bowl of it !!). We also ordered the large mixed meat plate and salad that had peppers, tomatoes and feta cheese. The meat platter was too big for us but delicious. I’m not much of a liver girl but the čevape and other sausages were good. I really liked the salad. The waiter was quiet pleasant. Overall the food and price were excellent. It was 26 for two platters, a salad, a beer and gas water.
Order the mix of small plate local Bosnian foods. Everything was delicious.. Best among I tried in Mostar. When I was there , most of the servers were senior and they were so kind and welcoming. Reasonably priced since it is located in the old town area.
The people are very nice and very friendly. They were able to accommodate vegan options for me by modifying their vegetarian plate a bit. Some of them don't understand English well, so please use google translation or ask for the menu …
We wanted to try local dish so we went to sit in this resto. The staff are very polite and friendly, they are mostly elderly but still manage to run the place efficiently. We ordered four different dishes and enjoyed all of it and paid very cheap at 38!we couldn’t believe it maybe because we were spending too much money in Croatia for food. You have to ask for the key of the toilet and it’s located outside the resto.
Come and eat mixed kebab plate. The Lady is amazing. The owners are the kindest people we have met on Mostar street. 3 man ate and paid 45 KM
I got the medium mix plate and it reminded me so much of home! The food was warm, fresh and delicious! The price was also crazy good! It was so cheap. My best friend and I shared a water, coca cola, salad and medium mixed plate and payed 13 euros!!!!
I was a little bit hesitant to try this restaurant because of some previous reviews but still decided to give it a go, and it was really worth it. Simple, home-made food in a modest but clean restaurant. The waiter (maybe also owner as well) was very friendly and he suggested me order a mix plate and choose the size I wanted depending how hungry I was. He was not pushy at all but stillattentive enough. The food, though looked simple, was actually very good and I devoured everything. A recommendation for people who don’t want to eat too much meat or heavy food but still want to try a Bosnian taste.
Food was sooo delicious, if you're looking for authentic Bosnian food definitely go to this place! The server was friendly and super helpful. Prices are not bad at all, we ordered a 2 meals, bread, coffee, salad and dessert all for 25 Euros. One of my favorite restaurants in Bosnia!!!
